Barrington, IL All Media Workshop

Description: Studying and applying the Intent, Design, Emotion and Awareness (IDEA) in Plein Air painting.

Focusing in on these four IDEA areas in Plein Air painting (areas often overlooked and undervalued) will increase an overall mindfulness during the seeking stage (what to paint and (why paint that) and during the entire painting process, which I’ve found directly transfers to increased quality and viewer connectedness. My method of teaching is through a combination of demo’s, lecture, one-on-one instruction and coaching, all with massive amounts of encouragement for those things being done right, as well as direct feedback for areas not perfected yet.

Medium: All Mediums, but demo’s will be done in watercolor and oil.

Location: Citizens Park, Barrington, IL

Beauty of Life at All Stages - Cedarburg Art Museum

Reception: Friday, Aug 7, 2020 5:30pm - 7:30pm with artist talk and demo at 6:00-7:00pm

Flowers are a reminder of how fleeting life is, and that there is beauty to be found in every stage. A flower, like life itself, is fleeting. It’s here for a season, graces us with its presence, beauty and fragrance, and then withers and dies. Some flowers only last a few hours; others last a few months. Most last only days.

It is pure joy to experience flowers in all their stages of grace. Painting, ultimately is a process of seeing, it allows the artist time to dive deeper into the shapes, value and color these little gems reveal.

My objective for this show is that in looking at and connecting to these precious floral gifts through the lens of art, new doors and windows may open into our own life, helping us to see anew the joy of our days.
