At the Emily Oaks Nature Preserve, trails provided hikers and artists to get up close and personal with the tall milkweed plant. These three blooms displayed three stages of growth, from young, mature and aging. The blooms would soon yield the milkweed seed pods, which they themselves are a further work of art. WGN news came that day and video taped and interview me painting these.
“Steve Puttrich was one of more than 20 artists taking their creative license from mother nature. "I was always enamored with art," Puttrich said. "When the breeze comes by you get a whiff of that and you try to incorporate that into your painting. It’s quite a challenge but it’s a beautiful thing to paint."
